House of 1000 Corpses is a 2003 horror film written and directed by Rob Zombie, and is his directorial debut as a filmmaker. The movie focuses on 4 college students traveling in rural America who experience car trouble and are taken in by a family of sadistic serial killers. It was released in the United States on April 11, 2003 by Lions Gate Films. The movie was commercially successful and has found a cult following over the Internet. It was followed by a sequel, The Devil's Rejects, which was released in 2005 and fared considerably better both financially and critically than its predecessor.
