What is a "designer art toy," anyway? Good question. Basically, these are toys or collectibles created by artists or designers. They cover a broad range of subjects and include such fun and desirable items as the mini-figures, vinyl figures, plush, statues, and more you see below. They're made from a variety of materials in addition to the plush and vinyl just mentioned. This includes ABS plastic, resin, wood, metal, and more. Designer or "art" toys first appeared in the 1990s, and their popularity has grown. Today, that demand is strong and the fire is fueled by industry standouts such as Pop Mart, Popaganda with its Cereal Killers, and the always popular Dunny line from Kidrobot.
