Established in the early 1970’s the 26th MEU has stood as “America’s Force in Readiness” as an integral part of the Navy and Marine Corps. Service units.
Consisting of a force over more than 2,100 Marines and Sailors the Marine Expeditionary Units are built on a concept of a Marine Air-Ground Task Force.
Units such as the 26th MEU are special operations qualified and provide a forward-deployed, self-sustaining task force that is a robust combat unit in any theatre of operations.
