Akane Tendo is one of three daughters of Soun Tendo, owner of the Anything-Goes-School-of-Martial-Arts. With the arrival of Soun's friend Genma Saotome and his son Ranma, Akane's life has never been the same. With the arrival of the Saotome's, Akane and her two sisters Kasumi & Nabiki were told that one of them would be betrothed to Ranma. Doing the honorable thing, the elder sisters Kasumi & Nabiki elected Akane to be Ranma's fiancee. Of course, this didn't sit well with either Ranma or Akane, seeing as they were not asked for an opinion. At first, Akane was wary and constantly angry to be called Ranma's fiancee, but after awhile, she grew to actually care for him. Inside, she knows that Ranma scretly cares for her, but he's sometimes too stubborn and, being young, is prone to saying the wrong thing. Also, at times the fact that Ranma can turn into a girl when doused with cold water is another factor.
