Ichigo Kurosaki, a 15-year-old high school student, has the ability to see ghosts. Rukia Kuchiki, a shinigami (god of death), accidentally runs into him one day while searching for a hollow (an evil spirit). During the fierce fight with the hollow, Rukia was wounded and was forced to transfer all of her powers into Ichigo.
