Spawn Series 23, Mutations, the horrifying results of a deal gone bad. In a bold move to forever free himself from his curse, Spawn attacked his master Malebolgia. But after a terrific struggle, Spawn fails to slay the ruler of the underworld. Later he reflects on his battle experiences as Spawn. He realizes that for too long he has resisted exploring the depths of his dark powers. The time has come for him to delve deeper into his dark nature. In order to slay the beast Malebolgia, Spawn must now become a beast himself - even if it means he will never be reunited with his beloved Wanda.
