Dr. Ted Sallis was a humble biochemist doing research in the Florida Everglades. His goal: to recreate the legendary Super Soldier Serum that created Captain America. When terrorist organization A.I.M. tries to steal the formula, Dr. Sallis destroys it and injects himself with the only samples. Tragically, he crashes his car into the swamp while attempting to escape. Left for dead, a combination of science and magic saves him, but he emerges from the bog forever changed into the monstrous Man-Thing!
