The Battle of Hoth - Snowspeeder Assault - The Battle of Hoth - Evacuation at Echo Base - The Rebel Alliance is facing one of its darkest hours. With Imperial AT-AT walkers and several legions of snowtroopers moving to attack the Rebel's Echo Base on the ice planet Hoth, a group of Rebel Troopers digs into snow trenches and prepares its laser cannons and blasters for battle. Using anti-infantry laser batteries, the Rebels create a rapid spray assault aimed at disabling enemy ground troops. All anti-vehicle laser cannons focus on weakening the mammoth AT-AT walker legs. The Rebels put up a good fight, but the AT-AT armor is extremely thick and virtually impenetrable by laser fire. Ultimately, the Rebels are overmatched by the Imperials, but are successful in allowing several transports carrying crew and supplies to escape.

Editor's Notes
These sets were designed with a lot of action in mind, and were designed so you can reconfigure them in a variety of ways. The Evacuation at Echo Base set includes 2 white base pieces, 2 mini figures, and 2 large cannons. The white bases can be connected in a wide variety of ways, so if you were to buy several, they can all connect together in a giant Hoth battlescape. The turrets and cannons are able to swivel and turn, taking aim at any Imperial Forces (sold separately) that may attempt to take the Rebel stronghold before their ultimate evacuation. With painted dirt, molded footprints, and tons of detail, this is a must-buy item for fans of Hoth and especially fans of the vintage Kenner MicroCollection toy line from the 1980s. It's just cool!
For fans of vehicles, the Snowspeeder Assault brings vehicles to a new small scale. With moving air brakes, landing gear, an opening canopy, and two non-removable pilot figures, the tiny Snowspeeder itself is a lot of fun. It features an added snow drift display base, clear rod, and Luke Skywalker mini-figure to complete the scene. The Snowspeeder can be placed on the rod, flying above the snow drift in a simulated aerial assault or even better, can "crash" and be "buried" in a small opening in the plastic base. Either way, it's up to you!
Also worth noting: the Snowspeeder is closer in scale to the vehicle in the movies. Most releases have the vehicle as being large, when in fact it is quite small and cramped. Kudos to Hasbro in designing a new scale of toys and playsets at a great low price!
