To the list of iconic women immortalized in painted works, Quantum Mechanix adds a quartet of steely beauties from the 21st century revamp of Battlestar Galactica. Artist Megan Lara has created portraits in the style of some acclaimed masters. Kara "Starbuck" Thrace has been rendered here with cigar in hand and a haunting gaze, the gifted Viper pilot is drawn in the style of Polish Art Deco painter Tamara de Lempicka. Tenebrism - the very pronounced use of chiaroscuro - adds dramatic effect. Sharon "Athena" Agathon - the second Number 8 Cylon of Sharon "Boomer" Valerii - embraces her young daughter Hera in this portrait, which takes inspiration from the highly ornamental Art Nouveau style of Austrian symbolist painter Gustav Klimt. President of the Twelve Colonies, Laura Roslin, takes on an ethereal glow that harkens to the photo-realistic style of French academic painter William-Adolphe Bougeureau. She is shown seated in a stone throne, reading the Book of Pythia. Number 6 is shown here with her pale skin against her signature dark red curve-hugging dress and darker background, evoking comparisons to John Singer Sargent's portrait of Madame X. Each of these Ladies of Galactica Gallery Collection art prints are presented on 100-pound satin-finish paper and measure 24-inches tall x 18-inches wide.
