The Three Stooges are true comedy icons, with their names and humor deeply embedded in the fabric of American pop culture. "We Want Our Mummy," released in 1939, is the first Stooge film to employ "Three Blind Mice" as the Stooges'ocial theme song. The Stooges, as private detectives, go to Egypt to find Professor Tuttle and search for the mummy of King Rutentuten (Rootin-Tootin), for which a museum will pay a $5,000 prize. They end up in the mummy's tomb, where they are chased by some bad guys after the same prize. The villains, who have kidnapped Professor Tuttle from the museum, want the jewels buried inside the mummy. When Curly accidentally destroys the mummy, Moe and Larry wrap him in bandages to fool the bad guys. The Stooges admit to the Professor that Curly has destroyed the mummy, but the Professor says, "That was his wife, Queen Hotsy-Totsy!" They manage to rescue the Professor and retrieve the real mummy of King Rutentuten, who turns out to have been a midget.
