Philip J. Fry is Captain Yesterday: a 30-something Slurm-addicted 31st century package-delivering boy turned super-hero. As the story goes, Fry and Leela are mugged within an inch of their lives. Through synchronicity and dumb luck, a supercollider explodes and the Miracle Cream they use to soothe their discomfort temporarily transforms their weaknesses into superpowers. Fry becomes unworldly strong, lickity-fast and mildly handsome when wearing a mask. Unsurprisingly, Fry's mind proved impervious to the mutation, remaining slow and dim. Along with Leela, they agree to forma team of superheroes incliding Bender, who provides the costumes and egocentricity...thus the New Justice Team is forged, foiling crimes all over New New York.
