Legend has it that the cast of the original 1979 film Alien was unaware that the Chestburster was going to suddenly (and very violently) burst from Kane's chest in the now infamous dinner scene. Whether or not this is true, no one can deny the impact that the grotesque little monster - the audience's first glimpse of the dreaded creature - had on both the Alien saga and on sci-fi films in general. Imagine a creature so foul and so deadly… yet it grows within a human body.
