First Look at Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman

Standing amid volcanic ash and rubble, gripping a sword and staring fiercely into the unknown is Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman – truly a “Wonder Woman of the new world,” as Gadot puts it. Donning Xena-esque garb, including knee-high boots and a symbolic “super” headband, Gadot’s costume is far from the expected brightly colored Amazon warrior suit. The costume is neither ostentatious like that which Lynda Carter wore in the 1970’s, nor is it classic to match Ben Affleck’s Batman or Henry Cavill’s Superman. Rather, the outfit stylishly reflects the fiery passion in Gadot’s eyes – without being over the top.

This stunning glimpse into Zack Snyder’s Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice premiered at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday, immediately enrapturing the audience of comic-enthusiasts. Yet as breathtaking as the photo may be, there arose a controversy over Gal Gadot’s role in the upcoming film – namely, that she is not the right stature, is too thin, and is not… how shall we say, “voluptuous.”

In response to her critics, Gadot told the Good Evening with Gai Pines program that “Breasts… anyone can buy for 9,000 shekels and everything is fine.” She adds, “Wonder Woman is Amazonian and historically accurate Amazonian women actually had only one breast. So, if I’d really go ‘by the book’… it’d be problematic.”

During the Warner Bros. movie panel, fans got to see a teaser of the film. While none of the footage suggested what Wonder Woman’s role may be in the upcoming film, we do know that Gal Gadot has signed up for three movies, which are predicted to be (of course) Batman v. Superman, a Justice League film, and finally a stand-alone Wonder Woman movie.
