First Look at Justice League: Throne of Atlantis

In this all new first look, fans get a preview for Justice League: Throne of Atlantis, the 2015 animated feature from DC Comics. Throne of Atlantis bridges the gap between Arthur Curry coming into his own and Aquaman’s first adventure with the Justice League. Think of Thrones of Atlantis as Aquaman begins.

Throne of Atlantis opens with Arthur Curry, voiced by Matt Lanter, living a half-life on the surface. Without a purpose, Curry finds himself in bar brawls constantly. In the midst of one, he admits to a lobster, “Life isn’t fair, never believed it before but I believe it now.”

This is the story of what makes a hero: how Aquaman becomes Aquaman. Producer James Tucker says “We know Arthur is a man of two worlds, Arthur doesn’t know that yet.” Arthur Curry hasn’t met the Justice League and he certainly hasn’t come to terms with seeing himself as a hero.

All of this leads to where Aquaman and the Justice League meet. Thrones of Atlantis follows Justice League: War, introducing this team of superheroes as newly formed relationships. They have only just begun working together. With differences in personality, Thrones of Atlantis will see these superheroes interact and how saving the world affects the cracks in their relationships.

In War, the King of Atlantis was killed. That ignites the character driven conflict in Thrones of Atlantis. Orm, Prince of Atlantis, harbors a vendetta against the surface and wants to destroy those who destroyed his father. He goes against his mother, the queen’s, wishes in his drive to attack the surface.

With Orm’s grudge and Curry’s dual life, this emotionally charged story is sure to please any Justice League fan.

Thrones of Atlantis features the voice talents of Matt Lanter (Aquaman), Sam Witwer (Orm), Sirena Irwin (Queen Atlantia), Jerry O’Connell (Superman), Christopher Gorham (The Flash), Jason O’Mara (Batman), Sean Astin (Shazam), Nathan Fillion (Green Lantern), Rosario Dawson (Wonder Woman), and Sean Patrick Thomas (Cyborg)/
