Mark Hamill Shows Off His Jedi Beard

News from the Star Wars set has been scarce as of late, but a new photo has nonetheless delighted fans who have been waiting patiently for a sneak peek at the action. Mark Hamill posted a photo of himself standing by the Star Wars VII studio on twitter, once again setting the Internet ablaze with speculation and excitement. The photo was taken by his son Nathan as part of a series of photos of Lava Bear, a “vibrant, ursine-esque creature” that Nathan’s been taking with him throughout the U.K.

“This is as close as Lava Bear got to the action (since he was barred from the set),” Hamill wrote.

For many, this was the first time they’ve seen a much slimmer Mark Hamill with the beard he had grown for his role as an older Luke Skywalker in Episode VII. With this glimpse of an older, more mature Skywalker, fans have plenty to be excited over. After all, Hamill’s reappearance at Pinewood Studios ascertains that Star Wars will, in fact, begin filming soon.

Star Wars: Episode VII is being directed by J.J. Abrams from a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan and Abrams. Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams, and Bryan Burk are producing, and John Williams returns as the composer.

Actors John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Max von Sydow, Lupita Nyong’o and Gwendoline Christie will join the original stars of the saga, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker in the new film.
