Heat and action are packed into George Miller’s new Mad Max movie trailer, which you can watch below. The film, formally titled Mad Max: Fury Road, is the fourth in the series and the first in 30 years.
This trailer is one of the most visually stunning trailers I’ve seen in a long time, and definitely emphasizes the “mad” aspect from the title. This trailer simply wants to excite you rather than detail the plot and it does a good job of that. It showcases unique action sequences, as well as the carnage and destruction expected from a post-apocalyptic setting, all to the tune of intense classical music. The desert setting and overabundance of orange and yellow hues are stifling, but they truly make the setting come to life.
Tom Hardy plays the titular character in this film, originated by Mel Gibson in the first three films. He meets Furiosa (Charlize Theron) who wishes to cross the desert. Also featured in the trailer is a virtually unrecognizable Nicholas Hoult as Nux.
The film was originally set to come out in 2014 but an uncharacteristic amount of rainfall in Australia delayed shooting.
Mad Max: Fury Road, directed by George Miller, and starring Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron, Nicholas Hoult, and Hugh Keays-Byrne is scheduled for a May 15, 2015 release.
