Now, however, we know who he’ll be leading in the new show. Nerdist unveiled the initial team roster. According to reports of the pilot, we’ll meet Dick Grayson as Robin who will part with Batman and transition to Nightwing in that same episode.
He will be joined by original members Hawk and Dove, a.k.a. Hank Hall and Dawn Granger, who are set to be a romantic pair. They originally represented the war hawks and doves of the 1960s as two superheroes with contrasting personalities and ideologies.
Starfire a.k.a. Koriand’r and Raven a.k.a. Rachel Roth will also join the team. They were part of the revived Teen Titans team from the 1980s. Starfire is the princess of the planet Tamaran. She has a deep romantic background with Nightwing in the comics, nearly marrying him once.
Raven is half-demon, half-human, and has several powers relating to that. She’s a darker character, who was once possessed by her own evil conscience and interrupted the marriage between Nightwing and Starfire.
Last to join them will be Barbara Gordon as Oracle, representing the team’s hacker. She will be wheelchair bound, but we don’t know the reason yet or if they’ll follow her comic book storyline. Barbara Gordon has never been a member of the Teen Titans in the comics, although she was in the second season of Young Justice.
It will be interesting to see Barbara’s relationship with Nightwing, given their history together and as previous Batkids.
Nerdist says neither Cyborg nor Beast Boy appear in the pilot script, but it’s possible for them to show up later in the series.
TNT is owned by Warner Bros., which also owns The CW and CBS but after a Supergirl crossover with Arrow and The Flash was shot down, we doubt we’ll get one here any time soon. But you never know what can happen down the line.
