Penny Dreadful Season 2 Changes Premiere Date

Showtime’s dark and sinister Penny Dreadful, originally set to return on April 26, will now debut its second season on Sunday, May 3. Watch the Season 2 trailer below!

The Season 2 trailer gave us a first look at what’s coming for the characters. Vanessa Ives (Eva Green) and Ethan Chandler (Josh Harnett) grow closer as the whole group wages war against evil forces.

Also set to return are Timothy Dalton as Sir Malcolm, Harry Treadaway as Dr. Frankenstein, Danny Sapani as Sembene, Reeve Carney as Dorian Gray, Rory Kinnear as the Creature, Billie Piper as Brona, Helen McCrory as Evelyne Poole a.k.a. Madame Kali, and Simon Russell Beale as Ferdinand Lyle.

Patti LuPone will guest star as a mysterious character in Vanessa’s past. Other guest stars include Douglas Hodge as a Scotland Yard investigator, Sarah Greene as Poole’s daughter, and Jonny Beauchamp as the man with a singular past.

The show is based on penny dreadfuls, a type of 19th-century British fiction publication with lurid and sensational subject matter. It takes real life characters from Irish and British fiction of this type, including Victor Frankenstein, Dorian Gray, and more.
