After seeing the first footage for the live action Attack on Titans on a television broadcast, the team behind the film released an official trailer, which you can watch below.
Attack on Titan, also known by its Japanese title Shingeki no Kyojin, focuses on the last vestiges of humanity trying to live while Titans, giant humanoid creatures who feast on the flesh of humans, invade the town.
Protagonist Eren Jaeger, his adopted sister, Mikasa Ackerman, and their childhood friend, Armin Arlert, survive a Titan breach and enlist in the military to fight Titans.
Time will tell if this live action film follows the same trajectory as the anime and manga but, if the style is anything to go by, this will be a faithful interpretation of the story. The setting and costuming look like it was ripped from the pages of the manga, while the Titans are even more terrifying than they appeared in the anime.
There’s no look at how the 3D Maneuver Gear will operate, but we’re definitely on the edge of our seats for this one!
Directed by Shinji Higuchi, the film releases this August in Japan and stars Haruma Miura, Kiko Mizuhara, Kanata Hongô, Satomi Ishihara, Nanami Sakuraba, Takahiro Miura and Hiroki Hasegawa.
