X-Men: Apocalypse Lands Newcomer as Jubilation Lee

There’s something different in all of us, and nothing– not a spell, big gloves, nothing– can change that or take it away. We’re all still mutants.

We have another talented young mutant joining X-Men Apocalypse! Director Bryan Singer announced newcomer Lana Condor as Jubilation Lee, a.k.a. Jubilee, on Instagram today.

This is not the first time Singer has utilized social media for cast announcements, nor is it likely to be the last. Condor, as Jubilee, joins the team of mutant youngsters already cast as Kurt Wagner (Nightcrawler), Scott Summers (Cyclops), Jean Grey (Phoenix), and Ororo Munroe (Storm).

Jubilee can generate pyrotechnic energy from her hands and often works alongside Wolverine. The character was present in all three earlier X-Men films, played first by Katrina Florence and later by Kea Wong. Condor will play an alternate version of the fan-favorite.

We’re hopeful that, since Condor was given the same treatment as previous casting news, Jubilee will be a prominent character in the upcoming film. With no filmography to go by, we’ll have to settle in and wait to see what this Jubilee will be like.

X-Men: Apocalypse is set for release on May 27, 2016, and stars Michael Fassbender as Magneto, James McAvoy as Charles Xavier, and Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique. The cast also boasts Nicholas Hoult, Channing Tatum, Evan Peters, Hugh Jackman, Oscar Isaac, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, and Kodi Smit-McPhee.

Are you excited for Jubilee to join the team? Tell us what you think in the comments!

I’d officially like to welcome our newest mutant #JubilationLee, #Jubilee @LanaCondor to #XMEN #Apocalypse
