Go Go Gadget All the Way to Netflix

One day, Netflix will rule the world. Until that day, they’ll roll out some exclusive Netflix programming, including the new CGI Inspector Gadget! This series hits Netflix tomorrow, March 27!

In the 26-episode series, the Inspector appears to start off retired but can’t stay that way for long when Dr. Claw returns. Gadget’s capable niece Penny, her dog Brain, and Quimby also return, alongside a few new faces.

Eric Barmack, Netflix’s VP of Global Independent Content, announced the upcoming series:

It’s one of those shows where we’re able to hit a few different audiences. We think that kids are going to love the show … but it’s also going to get some co-viewing because there is a generation of parents who grew up on the original.

Gadget first appeared as an animated series in the 1980s, which was later adapted into a live-action film starring Matthew Broderick as the titular inspector.

Anyone who grew up with the Inspector will likely tune in for a few episodes, but we’ll see if the nostalgia charm holds for the entire series. At any rate, bringing a beloved character like Inspector Gadget to his own Netflix-exclusive series is a brilliant move, if only because it points more people to Netflix.

After the immense successes of House of Cards, Orange Is the New Black, and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, it’s not surprising that Netflix continues to amp up its exclusivity. With Daredevil and A.K.A. Jessica Jones on their way, I’m pretty sure my weekends are booked with binge-watching Netflix shows!

Watch the trailer and tell us your thoughts on the new show.
