Jared Leto Recreates Seminal Joker Cover

Jared Leto was conspicuously missing from this week’s Suicide Squad table read. Presumably he was a bit preoccupied at the salon, since he went from blonde hair to green hair overnight!

Leto started teasing his transformation into the Joker on Instagram and showed his bleached hair mere days ago. Now director David Ayer showcases Leto’s fresh verdant locks in an homage to the cover of Alan Moore and Brian Bolland’s Batman story “The Killing Joke.”

With the newest Clown Prince of Crime taking some degree of inspiration from that iconic cover, Bat-fans know that Leto takes his role seriously… Well, as seriously as you can be with the Joker.

Suicide Squad is set for release on August 5, 2016, following the March release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Directed by David Ayer, the film stars Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Will Smith, Viola Davis, Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney, Cara Delevingne, Scott Eastwood, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Ike Barinholtz, Jim Parrack, and Adam Beach.
