Marvel Wants This Young Actor to Be Their New Spider-Man

Ever since Spider-Man finally went back home to Marvel, the question has been: who will play the web crawler? We might finally have our answer. Many sources are reporting that the role is most likely going to Hugo’s Asa Butterfield.

Butterfield has been a frontrunner for a while now, along with the likes of Tom Holland (In The Heart of The Sea).

While no contract has been signed, negotiations are happening and Marvel is apparently rooting for him. The Hollywood Reporter’s Borys Kit tweeted this yesterday:

It’s likely Butterfield is just testing for the role right now, but a lot of signs are pointing that we could get confirmation soon. The same thing happened with Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange.

We know that Marvel is going to be introducing Peter Parker as a teenager (reports say around 15-16), and Butterfield fits the role as a young Spider-Man nicely. It’ll be interesting to see his dynamic with the other characters, given he’ll easily be the youngest.

It’s unclear when we’ll first see Spider-Man in a Marvel film, but many expect to see him in Captain America: Civil War, which is currently filming.

What do you think? Will Asa Butterfield make a good Spider-Man? Sound off in the comments!
