In May, we learned that the proposed spin-off to Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. starring Bobbi Morse aka Mockingbird (Adrianne Palicki) and Lance Hunter (Nick Blood) would not be happening. Well, three months later, it’s been greenlit! Sort of.
Variety reports that ABC is closing in on a deal to order a pilot for a proposed show called Marvel’s Most Wanted starring the same two leads. Sounds like the once proposed spin-off, doesn’t it?
According to insiders, however, it’s not so much a spin-off as it is a completely separate journey for the two characters.
What this probably means is that we won’t see many of our favorite SHIELD characters on Most Wanted. Bobbi and Lance got their start on the former, but now it’s time for them to have a separate arc. Who knows, it could even turn out to be a prequel series.
All I know is that Bobbi and Lance are two of the best and most popular characters on SHIELD so I think it’s a fair guess to say they can hold their own show.
Jeffrey Bell and Paul Zbyszewski, SHIELD producers, co-created this new series. They co-wrote the pilot and will also act as showrunners and executive producers, alongside Marvel’s head of television Jeph Loeb.
SHIELD returns to ABC on September 9th with its third season.
