Rachel McAdams Confirms She’s the Leading Lady in Marvel’s Doctor Strange

The rumors are true! Rachel McAdams is the next leading lady for Marvel.

At the Toronto International Film Festival, the actress confirmed to TheWrap she’s joining Benedict Cumberbatch for Doctor Strange.

She has long been rumored to be co-starring in the film but up until now, it’s been just that: rumors. And as we all know, rumors in Hollywood can disappear with a snap of your fingers, so it’s good to finally have confirmation.

McAdams is a talented actress, most recently seen in True Detective and Southpaw, and she’ll make a great addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

There’s no word yet on who she’ll be playing, but many fans are calling for Clea. In the comics, Clea is daughter of Umar and the niece of the demonic tyrant Dormammu, and well-known in the Dark Dimension. She also just happens to be Strange’s estranged wife.

Doctor Strange tells the story of neurosurgeon Stephen Strange who, after a horrific car accident, discovers the world of magic and alternate dimensions. Footage at D23 Expo was described as being similar to Christopher Nolan’s Inception.

It’s set to to come out November 4, 2016, with Scott Derrickson directing and Jon Spaihts penning the script. It stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Tilda Swinton so far.

Are you excited to see Rachel McAdams enter the MCU? Do you want her to play Clea or someone else? Sound off in the comments!
