Talk about an effective trailer! The new live-action trailer for the upcoming video game from Bethesda Game Studios, Fallout 4, is one of the best trailers for a video game I’ve seen in a while. Check it out below to see if you agree!
While it doesn’t give much in the way of plot, the game’s themes and tones are on full display in clever and creative ways.
Starting with an idyllic future in the year 2077 (stylized like the 50s), the world is plunged into a nuclear holocaust. 200 years later, the main player character emerges from a shelter with his dog and explores this new post-apocalyptic world… all to the sounds of Dion’s “The Wanderer.”
The contrast between the song’s upbeat nature and the desolate atmosphere of the game’s setting is brilliantly done. Not to mention the realness of this trailer being live-action which is awesome on so many levels.
… Just as long as nothing happens to the dog. That’s where I draw the line.
Fallout 4 will be released on XBox One, Playstation 4, and Microsoft Windows on November 10, 2015.
