It’s the End of the World in the First Official X-Men: Apocalypse Trailer

The X-Men franchise is one of Hollywood’s wildest rollercoasters. It ranges from absolutely terrible (X-Men: The Last Stand, which was so bad X-Men: Days of Future Past was made virtually to retcon it) to genuinely great (X-Men: First Class).

Now we have another entry into the franchise, X-Men: Apocalypse, and its first trailer has finally arrived!

I’ll admit I can’t really put my finger on it, and Bryan Singer is a director who is extremely hit or miss for me. Check it out for yourself.

As a huge X-Men fan, I’m so excited to be getting characters like Cyclops and Jean Grey and Storm and Nightcrawler back, as well as new characters I’ve never seen before on the big screen like Psylocke and Jubilee and Apocalypse.

But this trailer simply doesn’t excite me as much as I want it to. Havok’s back after disappearing for a film, Mystique’s hair is fully embracing the 80s, and when you have an incredible actor like Oscar Isaac playing Big Bad Apocalypse… you have to give him more.

If anything, there’s that last shot and that’s what we should all be talking about.

X-Men: Apocalypse is set to hit theatres on May 27, 2016, directed by Bryan Singer, and starring James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Rose Byrne, Alexandra Shipp, Tye Sheridan, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Evan Peters, Olivia Munn, and Oscar Isaac.
