TNT Reviving Tales from the Crypt with M. Night Shyamalan

I’ve got good news, and… interesting news. Good news first? Yes, I agree.

HBO’s Tales from the Crypt is coming back!

However, it’s not coming back to HBO, and this is where the interesting news comes in. TNT is bringing us the reboot, along with the likes of M. Night Shyamalan. Here’s the official announcement:

(TNT) announced on Thursday that it is teaming up with Oscar-nominated director M. Night Shyamalan (The Sixth Sense) for a new two-hour horror blockanchored by a reboot of Tales From the Crypt and set to launch in fall 2016.

It’s easy to see Shyamalan’s name here and roll your eyes. After all, it’s considered cool these days to make fun of him. However, many considered last year’s The Visit a return to form for him. He could be making a comeback, and he might be a good fit for this reboot.

Don’t forget that he was once considered to be the next great director (take note of the “Oscar-nominated” in the release).

Tales from the Crypt was a horror anthology show that aired on HBO from 1989 to 1996. As a premium cable television channel, HBO was able to get away with several kinds of graphic scenes for this show. Which is what makes TNT an interesting network to be reviving this show on, but it’s impossible to know how it’s going to manifest until we get more information.

Are you excited to see Tales from the Crypt return? Sound off in the comments!
