UPDATE 4/21: According to The Hollywood Reporter, Robert Downey, Jr. (Iron Man) has officially joined the cast of Spider-Man: Homecoming which means we’ll seeing Iron Man and Spidey team up once more!
By now, we’re all well aware of Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War.
We also know that your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is getting another solo film in 2017, which is going to be distributed by Sony, but overseen by Marvel.
So Spider-Man is officially part of the MCU – but how much will the MCU really overlap with Spidey and his stories? Well, that can’t really be answered yet, but Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige did all but confirm it would happen:
“He is in the universe now, and the fun of the universe is that characters go back and forth.”
If that’s not saying “MCU characters will show up in Spider-Man films,” I don’t know what is.
The interesting question to pose now is: which characters? Peter’s on Iron Man’s team in Civil War, so I think it’s a fair assumption that we could see Iron Man in a Spider-Man film, especially depending on whether or not there will be any more Iron Man films.
Whoever it ends up being, we thought it’d be fun to pose the question to you, so vote for your pick to appear in a Spider-Man film!
