No boxer has taken more licks in the ring than Rocky Balboa. Sylvester Stallone portrayed the underdog and created an instant classic with the release of the first Rocky film in 1976. With this highly detailed statue, sculptor K.A. KIM created an intricately carved face that looks like the spitting image of Sylvester Stallone himself. Rocky is dressed in all black, with the exception of his red t-shirt and the gold cross hanging from his neck. Embossed on the back of his leather jacket is a powerful tiger, no doubt meant to represent Rocky’s fighting spirit. The image of raw strength and tenacity is truly captured in the body and pose of this effigy.
Butkus, Rocky’s loyal dog, is also present by his side. The bullmastiff is clearly large and in charge, with his powerful stance and pure muscle mass. The pooch is adorned with a black collar and a green jersey. The diorama base recreates the city streets from the movie, while the nameplate captures the symbolic training scene we all know and love.
The statue in all weighs in at approximately 24 pounds. It measures approximately 20 1/2-inches tall x 9 3/4-inches wide, while the base measures approximately 12-inches wide x 3 1/2-inches tall.
