Civil War Video Poses the Question: Who Should Pay for Destruction, Heroes or Taxpayers?

By far, the coolest marketing effort so far for Captain America: Civil War has been the news segments.

Led by MCU news anchors Christine Everhart (Leslie Bibb, who was first seen in 2008’s Iron Man) and Will Adams (Al Madrigal) from WHiH World News, they’ve been debating superheroes and their actions in a series of viral videos.

In the latest segment, they ask citizens who should pay for the destruction caused by heroes fending off villains and alien invasions: taxpayers or the heroes themselves?

There are interesting opinions and points across the board, and both Everhart and Adams make their opinions pretty explicitly known as well.

It’s a fantastic video, played totally straight, and I have to say I am loving recent movies’ uses of viral content fascinating and fun. Presenting them without advertisements and treating the universes as completely real is a great way to invite audiences into these worlds.

WHiH even has an official Twitter account!

Captain America: Civil War stars Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey. Jr, Anthony Mackie, Jeremy Renner, Daniel Brühl, Chadwick Boseman, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany, Emily VanCamp, Martin Freeman, and Don Cheadle, is set to hit theaters on May 6, 2016.

So who should be paying for this destruction? Tell us where you stand in the comments!
