Supergirl Officially Renewed for Season 2, Finds New Home on the CW

The rumors have been stirring for a while, but now it’s official: Supergirl is renewed for Season 2 and moving to the CW!

Frankly, this move now seems like it was inevitable.

Supergirl was created by Greg Berlanti, who’s also the man behind the CW series Arrow and The Flash. Furthermore, Supergirl was a genre-departure for CBS and while it was the top-rated new drama for CBS, averaging 2.5 in adults and 10 million viewers overall, it was down based on other series in that timeslot from last year.

It makes sense that Supergirl, so similar to The Flash especially, would join its brethren on the same network, with the potential for more crossovers. When Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) appeared on Supergirl, it was a huge ratings booster and started to fuel the rumors about Supergirl’s move.

The big thing that may be noticeable about Season 2 is its look and feel. Moving to the CW will decrease its budget exponentially, although the move to Vancouver (where the CW shoots) from Los Angeles (where Season 1 of Supergirl shot) should help costs.

Still, as long as the show keeps its heart, I’m just happy it’s sticking around at all. Supergirl is a show that got better and better with each episode in Season 1 and I’m excited for its future.

The show will return this fall on the CW.

Are you excited about its renewal and move? Sound off below!
