“The day we have waited for may be at hand!”
After months of silence, which followed some of the best casting in movie history, we finally have the first teaser trailer for Disney’s upcoming live-action Beauty and the Beast.
Get ready for some serious magic.
This trailer really is beautiful and what I love about it is that it acts both as a teaser and a prologue, using a piano rendition of “Prologue (The Enchantress),” as well as subtly showing the decay of the castle as the curse takes over.
It ends with voice-overs from Lumiere (Ewan McGregor) and Cogsworth (Ian McKellen), as Emma Watson’s Belle enters and finds the enchanted rose.
The trailer really banks on familiarity and nostalgia but based on the internet’s reactions (my own included), it’s definitely working.
Beauty and the Beast is directed by Bill Condon and stars Emma Watson, Dan Stevens, Luke Evans, Josh Gad, Ewan McGregor, Ian McKellen, Emma Thompson, Stanley Tucci, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Kevin Kline, and Audra McDonald. It’s set to arrive on March 17, 2017.
