John Carpenter’s on Board with Blumhouse for a New Halloween Remake

There have been many Halloween films over the years – 10, in fact. And now there’s about to be another. However, this one’s rather special.

Jason Blum of Blumhouse Productions is teaming up with Malek Akkad and Miramax to remake the film, with none other than John Carpenter, original director of the film, executive producing.

That’s got to hold some weight for a remake.

Furthermore, according to Carpenter, this new film is meant to fix the problems with Rob Zombie’s remake: “Michael Myers is not a character. He’s not a person. He’s a force of nature. He’s one part human and one part supernatural.”

It will be made with a smaller budget, in order to stick to a simple, scary story and stay true to the original.

There’s no word on director or cast yet, but the goal is for the movie to come out around Halloween 2017.
