Logan Trailer Leaves Us Hurting For More

20th Century Fox just gave us our first real look at the upcoming third solo Wolverine film titled Logan. With the release of this first trailer we got a chance to see Wolverine in a very different light. A dark, gritty and emotional light. Set in the future (a new future set into motion from the time travel shenanigans seen in X-Men: Days of Future Past) where mutants are essentially extinct. Wolverine no longer heals like he had in the past. He’s an older man now and his injuries and wounds have left scars all over his body.

The music in the trailer sets the tone for the film with the very haunting “Hurt” by Johnny Cash. Wolverine is seen taking care of a very elderly Charles Xavier, who is nowhere near the strong leader of the X-Men that we know and love. We’re also introduced to a young girl that Xavier describes to Logan as, “She’s like you. Very much like you.” We’re led to believe the young girl may in fact be Laura Kinney aka X-23, a female clone of Wolverine created from his DNA (of course, this has not been confirmed…yet). From the trailer it appears that Logan, with Xavier’s help, will be protecting this girl throughout the movie from this very organized group of soldiers.

Many have assumed that the main theme of Logan will be an adapted version of the Old Man Logan story told in the comics. Not much of the plot can be taken from the 1:47 long trailer, however, we are in for a lot of action in this film. A lot of violent action, as this will be the first Wolverine film with an R rating.

Logan is set to be released on March 3rd, 2017 and sees Hugh Jackman returning for his ninth run as Wolverine. The film also stars Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier, Dafne Keen, Boyd Holbrook, Richard E. Grant, Stephen Merchant, Eriq La Salle, Elise Neal, and Elizabeth Rodriguez.
