8 Most Anticipated Comic Book Movies of 2017

It seems like every year we’re getting more and more movies that are adapted from a comic book. Which makes sense because every year these movies are dominating the box office and making tons of money for their respective studios. While we wait for the genre to go the way of the western, fans can rejoice as there is no end in sight for the production of these movies. In 2017 we’ll have eight new comic book movies coming out, so let’s take a quick look at what’s to come!

The Lego Batman Movie (February 10)

This spin-off of The Lego Movie sees the brooding rock star more commonly known as Batman return in full Lego form. Joined by Robin, Batgirl, and Alfred, Batman will try to save Gotham from Joker, Harley Quinn, Two-Face and more!

Logan (March 3)

After portraying Wolverine in eight previous films, Logan will be Hugh Jackman’s last turn as the fan favorite X-Man (or maybe not). Jackman’s going out with a bang with an R rating, and a gritty post-apocalyptic setting.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2  (May 5)

Our favorite band of not-so bad guys doing somewhat good things, like saving the universe, have returned! We’ll meet Star-Lord’s father as well as Mantis, and Baby Groot will assuredly steal the show.

Wonder Woman (June 2)

In arguably the most anticipated movie of the year, Wonder Woman will give us all what we’ve wanted for years… A superhero movie with a female lead. Set during World War I, we’re sure to get her origin story followed by some fantastic wartime action.

Spider-Man: Homecoming (July 7)

This is it. Marvel is in control of the beloved wall crawler… For the most part. It’ll be a young Peter Parker going up against the Vulture for the first time in a movie and with Tony Stark as his mentor, what can go wrong for Spidey?

Kingsman: The Golden Circle (October 6)

The long awaited sequel to Kingsman: The Secret Service is set to blow our minds yet again. With intense fight sequences and beautiful cinematography, alongside an incredible cast featuring Julianne Moore, Halle Barry, Mark Strong, and Taron Egerton, this movie can’t miss!

Thor: Ragnarok (November 3)

Rounding out the Thor trilogy of solo flicks, this one will feature Hulk along with our favorite hammer wielding Norse God. With some Planet Hulk story elements along with Jeff Goldblum joining the cast as Grandmaster, we’re sure to finally get a great Thor film.

Justice League (November 17)

Rounding out the year in comic book films is the granddaddy of them all. Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Aquaman, Cyborg, and Superman (maybe a Green Lantern?) working together to take down Steppenwolf and an army of Parademons, it’s what we’ve all be dreaming of since we were kids.

Which comic book movie are you most looking forward to seeing? Do you think we’re getting too many comic book movies every year? Should we have more? Let’s discuss!
