She was the chief of the poison division for a Nazi contingency. They were planning to poison the United States Army’s water with a drug called “Reverso,” which compelled whoever takes it to do the opposite of what they’re told. Doctor Poison possess no special powers or abilities, however, she’s an expert in the use of pathogens, poisons, toxins, and plagues. She uses her scientific genius against those who would oppose her to achieve her evil goals. She’s been a thorn in Wonder Woman’s side for years, kidnapping Steve Trevor on several occasions. She’s driven by a need to be the best and to be the most destructive at her craft and in the comics, she’s driven by revenge.

Paging Dr. Maru

In the upcoming Wonder Woman film, Doctor Poison is being portrayed by Elena Anaya. She’s dedicated to helping German General Erich Ludendorff in his pursuit to win the first World War. She provides him with a new type of chemical warfare that will destroy gas masks and gives Ludendorff a drug that gives him temporary super-strength to focus and regain his strength. Doctor Maru may not seem like a baddie to be feared, but she’s extremely driven and smart and is an expert in ways to kill from a distance. She poses a real threat to her enemies, including the Amazonian Princess, Wonder Woman.
