3 Exclusive Clips from My Little Pony: The Movie That Are Completely Magical

Join the Mane Six as they embark on a daring adventure to save Equestria! Fans of the wildly popular television show, My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, definitely need to add this dazzling new edition to their collection.

My Little Pony: The Movie Beyond Equestria Special Feature

In the film, Princess Twilight Sparkle and her friends must band together to defeat a mysterious new foe. For the first time, the ponies will have to travel outside of Equestria! Both the fans and showrunners have been wanting to explore the grander world beyond Ponyville, and with this feature film, they finally get that chance.

This featurette showcases barren landscapes, underwater kingdoms, and sparkling skies. Besides a longer run time, another perk of cinema is the chance to showcase a more ambitious scale of what animation has to offer. There’s a mix of more lighting and shadow, the colors are more vibrant, and there’s a much more distinguished look to the artwork overall.

My Little Pony: The Movie New Characters Special Feature

This movie wouldn’t be complete without Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Applejack, Fluttershy, Rarity, and Spike the Dragon. However, on their quest, they encounter several new friends and adversaries. Zoe Saldana joins the crew as Captain Celaeno. This confident captain and her ragtag flock of fellow birds help the ponies achieve their goals, all while sailing a magical ship in the sky. Emily Blunt portrays Tempest Shadow, who she describes as “sinister and dark.” She sports a color palette of deep purple and red, and her defining feature is a broken unicorn horn. Rounding out the star-studded cast is Taye Diggs as Capper. This sly cat has an outrageous pompadour and an equally stylish coat.

My Little Pony: The Movie Making of Featurette

The cast and crew were so excited to explore their favorite universe on a larger scale, as made evident by their praise of the script in this featurette. One of the things that everyone loves about this property is pointed out by Zoe Saldana – “there are strong messages of friendship and teamwork behind My Little Pony, and I’ve never met a child that doesn’t have an affinity for them.”

We also get a look at another new character, played by Michael Pena. He voices Grubber, a small creature with a big love for sponge cake. Grubber is also Tempest’s right-hand man. Michael Pena jokes that the writers created this character after they met him because like the character he portrays, Michael says that he “loves food and is also vertically challenged.”
