Everything We Know about the 3 Untitled Star Wars Movies That Will Start Arriving in 2022

Walt Disney Studios announced their updated film slate post-merger and it includes Avatar sequels and three untitled Star Wars films.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hasn’t even been released yet but Disney has already revealed the next Star Wars trilogy. The 3 untitled Star Wars movies will begin with the first untitled film on December 16, 2022, and will be followed every other year until December 18, 2026. This means that the new trilogy will keep the holiday release schedule that was started with Star Wars: The Force Awakens. It also means that we’ll get a year in-between Star Wars films, something that we haven’t seen with the modern movies. So what films should holiday movie-goers expect in off years? Disney has slated the Avatar sequels in that place.

As of now, little is known about the three untitled Star Wars films. There were strong indications that the films would have been the previously announced films that David Benioff and D.B. Weiss were tasked to create and not the trilogy that Rian Johnson was working on, but with Benioff and Weiss’ departure, it could switch between the two series of films. It’s also possible someone else will pick up what the Game of Thrones creators were planning and they would keep the same release schedule. One of the three releases might even a Kevin Feige Star Wars film. As Yoda said “Difficult to see. Always in motion is the future.”

What we do know for certain is that Episode IX marks the end of the Skywalker Saga, so whatever this trilogy is, it will be a completely new take on one of the most iconic movie franchises.

Which Star Wars trilogy do you think it is? Let us know in the comments.
