San Diego Comic-Con 2019: HBO, Netflix, and Hulu Steal the Show on Day 2

It’s Friday which means it’s Day 2 of San Diego Comic-Con. Business picks up with all the teasers, trailers, casting announcements, collectible exclusives, and an influx of cosplayers galore! All eyes focus in on Hall H and all the news coming from the convention center as the biggest studios make their huge announcements throughout the weekend and today was no different. So let’s take a look at all the fun that came from Day 2 at the Con!

Tales from Hall H & Ballroom 20

The cast and crew of the Netflix series The Witcher took the stage to preview what they’ve been filming. Producer Lauren Schmidt Hissrich joined actors Anya Chalotra, Freya Allen, and Henry Cavill talked about the story, the setting, and what fans can expect from the video game adaptation. Joining in on the Netflix fun was The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance panel. It was also announced today that there would be two more new Halloween movies in the works coming off the success of this past year’s Halloween film which saw the return of Jamie Lee Curtis to the franchise and which retconned all of the previous sequels since the original film from 1978.

The premiere of the new season of Veronica Mars debuted at the con today but making bigger news was the fact that they released the entire season a week early on Hulu. Fans not attending the con can dig into the new episodes now without having to wait till the week after SDCC, while the stars of the show made their way to the Conan show today. The Walking Dead hit Hall H to announce that the Rick Grimes movies set apart from the series will be shown in theaters and not on AMC. Finally, the Rick and Morty panel debuted a new clip from Season 4 that featured a new character played by Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi.

“Pin the Heights” with Lin-Manuel Pin Mates

Yesterday Lin-Manuel Miranda was on a panel for the highly anticipated HBO show, His Dark Materials, and today he made an appearance at the Entertainment Earth booth for the release of his In the Heights Usnavi SDCC Debut.

The biggest sellers at booth #2343 today for Day 2 of SDCC were the 10” Super-Sized Charmander Funko Pop!, the Little Mermaid Kiss the Girl Movie Moment Funko Pop!, the Kidrobot Pinky and the Brain glow-in-the-dark figure, and the Wonder Woman & Cheetah with the Invisible Jet Pin Mates as well as the Lin-Manuel Miranda Pin Mates wooden figure. The celebrity guest action continued from yesterday as one half of the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champions, Xavier Woods stopped by for an autograph signing while WWE Champion Kofi Kingston and WWE 24/7 Champion R Truth visited the booth as well.
