Why the Final Trailer for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Dropping on Carrie Fisher’s Birthday Is Perfect Ending to the Saga

In the most fitting of gestures, Disney and Lucasfilm released the final trailer for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker on Carrie Fisher’s birthday, saying goodbye not only to the Skywalker saga but the beloved actress as well.

Fisher, who was best known for bringing the most iconic sci-fi heroine to life, would have been 63 years old. The Rise of Skywalker is a posthumous swan song for the actress who tragically passed away in 2016.

The final trailer for The Rise of Skywalker ties a nice bow on the entire saga and General Leia (she will always be a princess to me) character.

The most powerful moments of the trailer are when Leia embraces Rey and at the very end when Leia gets the last word “Always,” reassuring the audience that everything will be ok without Fisher around.

The Force will be with you.

Always.
