Fans of the gothic and macabre, rejoice! Penny Dreadful might have ended its run on television with the third season finale, but it was recently announced that our favorite characters will be resurrected for an upcoming comic book series.
The new series by Titan Comics will take place six months after the shows end. Chris King, Co-Executive Producer of the TV show, will be heading the project, while Jesús Hervás will be the principal illustrator.
This isn’t the first time Penny Dreadful has been showcased in comic form. There was a prequel comic series that explored the characters and their lives before the events of the show. That series was critically acclaimed, and there’s no doubt that the next installment will be just as well received.
Penny Dreadful comic editor, Lizzie Kaye, had this to say about the upcoming project:
“Like all fans of Penny Dreadful, I am so thrilled that we’re returning to the incredible world of the show. There are a lot of stories left to tell, and there is no one better to tell them than Chris King. What he’s got planned will just take your breath away, and I can’t wait for fans to see it all brought to life by artist Jesús Hérvas.”
The new Penny Dreadful comic series is set for an early 2017 release.
