Marvel’s Top Agents Officially Renewed for More Seasons by ABC

Agents of SHIELD and Agent Carter

The Marvel universe just got the green-light from ABC to continue expanding on TV. It was announced yesterday that both Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Marvel’s Agent Carter were renewed for Season 3 and 2, respectively.

It certainly has been a strong start to 2015 for Marvel.

This is good news for fans, though not necessarily surprising.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has steady, if not great, ratings, but fans and critics have warmed to it since its rocky start. With its introduction of the Inhumans (who get their own film in 2019) and strong ties to the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), it’s come a long way.

As for Agent Carter, Hayley Atwell (Peggy Carter) must be excited given her excellent turn as the lead character. Despite soft ratings, fans loved the miniseries and further exploration of the beginnings of S.H.I.E.L.D. It was a solid show, and we have hope that Season 2 will be even better, given how Season 1 ended on a note of promise.

However, it’s not all good news for Marvel TV. The proposed Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. spin-off featuring Bobbi Morse a.k.a. Mockingbird (Adrianne Palicki) and Lance Hunter (Nick Blood) has not been picked up.

That doesn’t mean the spin-off will never happen, just that it’s not happening right now. It’s likely we’ll continue to see the characters explored on the flagship show.

Are you excited to watch more Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Marvel’s Agent Carter? Do you hope the spin-off happens one day? Sound off in the comments!
