If 2016 is too long to wait for more Power Rangers, you’re in luck because now there’s a Power Rangers fan film starring Katee Sackhoff (as Pink Ranger Kimberly Ann Hart) and James Van Der Beek, which you can watch below. The fan film is unrelated to the 2016 film.
This fan film is darker than the original television series but explores the aftermath of high schoolers weaponized to fight an intergalactic threat. What would happen when they got older? Producer Adi Shankar explores that very thought in Power/Rangers a “Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers Bootleg Film.”
Director Joseph Kahn said “the dark and gritty reboot thing is such a cliché that the intention was not only to make it dark and gritty but make it even darker and grittier than you could possibly imagine, hence the brains, the blood and the violence and the sex.”
It’s far more violent than one might anticipate, but hey – it’s morphin’ time. This is no longer the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers: this is a Power Rangers for the adult viewer. So check it out and share your thoughts in the comments!
