The next installment in the original Sci-Fi/Horror film series will make its debut this coming Summer. We finally got a peak at the first footage from Alien: Covenant and it looks extremely intriguing!
The official synopsis is that the crew of the colony ship, Covenant, makes their way to a desolate planet. There they discover the only survivor of the Prometheus, the android David (Michael Fassbender). As we can imagine, all hell breaks loose.
There are many exciting elements in this trailer. it starts off with two crew members trapped inside a locked room. One is begging to be let out, while the other is suffering from horrific convulsions. It looks like the Alien is tearing its way out of its host from the back, as opposed to the front. Perhaps the Xenomorph will emerge fully formed, and cast aside the husk of a human?
Peppered throughout are quick cuts of the crew on board their ship as well as traversing through exotic landscapes. A beautiful cover of David Bowie’s “Nature Boy” plays in the background, setting a haunting mood.
I have to admit, I’m most overjoyed by the fact that we get our first look at the Xenomorph eggs, as well as a facehugger! The closing shot is also fantastic, as a Xenomorph ruins two characters’ shower fun via disembowelment. Nowhere is safe, not even the bathroom!
I know a lot of people were disappointed with Prometheus, but let’s be honest, the movie wasn’t that bad. I, for one, am looking forward to more Xenomorph carnage, no matter what the story entails.
Alien: Covenant will hit theaters on May 19, 2017.
