Artist Recreates Iconic DC Comics Characters and Vehicles as Life-Size LEGO Statues

Bernini, who?*

There’s a new sculptor in town, and he goes by the name of Nathan Sawaya. This new artist combines two of our favorite things: DC Comics and LEGO.

Running until May 1, 2016 in Sydney, Australia, The Art of the Brick: DC Comics exhibit at the Powerhouse Museum shows off Sawaya’s incredible, unique, and life-sized creations, including one of the Batmobile, Superman, and more.

Sawaya calls the exhibit something of an “origin story” and that it draws on “that moment when we’re all called to adventure.”

There are 120 pieces in the exhibit (you can check out a few below), but my personal favorite has to be the Flash. Check out the way he constructed the effects of the speedster blurring by!

The exhibit is on display now and running until May of next year.

What do you think of these great pieces? Which one’s your favorite?

*Gian Lorenzo Bernini is actually one of the greatest sculptors to have ever lived.
