Assassin’s Creed Movie Adds Acclaimed Actors Jeremy Irons and Brendan Gleeson

As if Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard weren’t high-caliber enough for the upcoming Assassin’s Creed film, Jeremy Irons and Brendan Gleeson have signed on!

The report comes from Deadline, which states that Academy Award-winner Irons will play Cotillard’s father and Emmy-winner Gleeson will play Fassbender’s father.

That’s certainly a highly talented and all in the family foursome the film is setting up.

Here’s a reminder of the synopsis for the film:

Lynch (Fassbender) discovers he is a descendant of the secret Assassins society through unlocked genetic memories that allow him to relive the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. After gaining incredible knowledge and skills he’s poised to take on the oppressive Knights Templar in the present day.

There’s no knowing what characters Cotillard and Irons will be playing, but does this mean Gleeson was once a secret Assassin himself?

Either way, the film definitely has talent going for it at this point, if nothing else.

Jeremy Irons can next be seen in Race and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Brendan Gleeson will next be in Suffragette and In the Heart of the Sea.

Assassin’s Creed is set to hit theaters on December 21, 2016. It’s directed by Justin Kurzel and stars Michael Fassbender, Marion Cotillard, Ariane Labed, Michael Kenneth Williams, Jeremy Irons, and Brendan Gleeson.
