Can Humans Defeat Their Massive Enemy in Newest Attack on Titan Trailer?

In the latest Attack on Titan live-action movie trailer, which you can watch below, there is way more Titan carnage to feast your eyes on.

Based on the manga by Hajime Isayama, here is the synopsis for the film:

“The story of Attack on Titan takes place in a world where the remnants of humanity live inside a series of connected cities, isolated by enormous walls. These walls exists to keep the Titans out, gigantic humanoid creatures who devour humans seemingly without reason. These Titans have reduced the world’s population to staggeringly low numbers. The 3 main protagonists of Isayama’s manga are Eren Jaeger, his adoptive sister Mikasa Ackerman, and their friend Armin Arlert. Their lives are changed forever when a “Colossal Titan” breaches the wall protecting their town, leading to the death of Eren’s mother. Vowing revenge and to reclaim the world from the Titans, Eren, Mikasa and Armin join the Survey Corps, an elite group of soldiers who fight Titans outside the walls.”

The trailer is truly terrifying. It’s shot beautifully, and there’s plenty of action, but those Titans scare the bejeezus out of me. And I mean that in the best way possible! They should scare you. Just looking at this trailer, I think it will please fans of the series.

We also get our first look at the Three Dimensional Maneuver Gear in action, which is a system developed by the surviving humans to help them take on the Titans. What it does is allow the user to fight in a 3D space, as opposed to 2D, by acting as a body harness which the user must then learn to control. It requires plenty of skill and strength. On screen? It looks awesome.

Two Attack on Titan films will be released, the first coming out on August 1st and the second premiering on September 19th in Japan. The films are directed by Shinji Higuchi and star Haruma Miura, Kiko Mizuhara, Kanata Hongô, Satomi Ishihara, Nanami Sakuraba, Takahiro Miura and Hiroki Hasegawa. There is also going to be a live-action television series with the same cast.

There’s no word yet on a US distribution.
