Attack on Titan Season 2 Confirmed

If you missed last year’s fresh crop of anime, you missed the growth of the ‘Attack on Titan‘ fandom. ‘Attack on Titan‘ exploded into popularity in 2013 with hundreds of cosplayers descending on their local conventions like the Titans’ descent onto the towns in the show. The stateside audience saw massive amounts of cosplayers, Toonami aired the English dub to bring in more fans, and these watchers yearned for more. Today was their lucky day.

Attack on Titan‘ was confirmed for a second season, according to Crunchyroll. During a question and answer session at AnimagiC, a convention in Bonn, Germany, producer George Wada admitted that the second season is in its pre-production phase. The second volume of the manga won over Wada’s heart and he wanted to adapt the show then. Wada and manga-ka Hajime Isayama met biweekly over the course of a year to discuss the details, including newly designed 3D maneuver gear for the upcoming second season. Wada also released that season two is inspired by both Spider-Man and Guillermo del Toro’s ‘Pacific Rim.’

While ‘Attack on Titan‘ started as a light novel series, it was further adapted into a manga written by Hajime Isayama and the hit anime we know today. It follows the story of Eren Jaeger and his friends in the military as they fight Titans, giant humanoid creatures who break down the city walls and attack humanity. Jaeger faces struggle, death, and towering giants as he fights for the good of the world to kill all the Titans.
