“I really messed up this time, didn’t I?” – Tony Stark at some point, probably
Avengers fans everywhere assembled on Twitter with #AvengersAssemble to unlock this thrilling new trailer for Avengers: Age of Ultron, complete with new footage of our favorite heroes and the titular Ultron, which you can watch below.
This trailer offers a comprehensive look at what’s coming in the new film. In an attempt to save the world, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) inadvertently created an artificial intelligence that may very well unravel the world, its team of superheroes, and the very hope of humanity. And, to be honest, he’s finally starting to realize his own mistakes.
The new footage showcases epic fight scenes, including Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) against Captain America (Chris Evans) and legions against the titular heroes. Our heroes must stand and fight, using nothing but wit and will against an army of artificial intelligence.
We see Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) meet with Ultron (voiced by James Spader). The Avengers assemble in a quiet cabin and, unless we’re mistaken, there seems to be romance in the air for Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) and Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johannson).
Natasha shows her vehicular skills once again, but this time on her motorcyle. Tony picks up Loki’s scepter – for reasons we can only fathom include a thirst for power to solve the problems he started. The battle between the Hulk and Hulkbuster continues up the side of a building. And this is only the beginning.
After the closing title, we get a look at Vision (Paul Bettany). It may only be his eyes, but even eyes can tell a story.
The fate of the planet hangs in the balance. Can Earth’s mightiest heroes end the fight or will they be torn apart?
Avengers: Age of Ultron is directed by Joss Whedon and stars Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Samuel L. Jackson, Elizabeth Olson, Aaron Johnson, Cobie Smulders, Paul Bettany, and James Spader. It’s set to hit theaters on May 1st.
